Founded in 1985, EyeCare America is a public service foundation of the American Academy of Ophthalmology. Our mission is to reduce avoidable blindness and severe visual impairment by raising awareness about eye disease and care, providing free eye health educational materials and facilitating access to medical eye care. In addition to our online educational materials, we offer eye care programs for which individuals may qualify. Callers will be asked a series of questions to determine the program that provides the most appropriate eye care services.

VISION USA provides basic eye health and vision care services free of charge to uninsured, low-income people and their families. VISION USA was established in 1991 by AOA doctors of optometry who donate their services.

Free eye exams and glasses available every Thursday morning by a group of volunteer opticians and optometrists. Glasses take approximately one week to make up. Make appointments by phone or show up Thursday at 7:45 am to be put on the stand-by list. Must bring valid state identification and be 18 or older.
