About:
SSA is a federal agency that provides Supplemental Security Income (SSI) to people with limited income and resources. To qualify for SSI, you must be 65 or older and/or legally blind or otherwise disabled (unable to work because of physical or mental disabilities), and have a low income as defined by the program. Local social services departments provide information on Medicaid, which helps pay for medical care, hospitalization, and nursing home fees for people with low income. Generally, those who are eligible for SSI are also eligible for Medicaid.
